Hi folks and thanks for reading. Quick post about some stuff that comes up often with my fat loss consulting, and in today’s piece its for the ladies…….
I’ll talk to lots of women who are trying to get toned, and it’s often mums with little kids. There are 3 topics that come up again and again:
Protein intake. I often find that we are working on getting protein into each meal. It’s a very useful strategy as it’s the best way to control hunger and ensure blood sugar levels are even, so your body can get into fat burning. I like to get at least 20g into each meal for ladies, 30g is better. Plan your meal around your protein. Eggs and ham for breakfast anyone? Salmon for lunch? Lamb for dinner? Your call, find a way. Most of my clients know all about getting the sugar out of their diet, and are doing that well, you now need to focus on getting protein INTO your diet.
Strength Training. Many women either don’t do any, or do a bit but it’s not very well planned and not very well performed. You need to do strength training. You don’t need a gym for it though, you can do it at home. Pushups, squats, lunges, heavy box lifts, some yoga – plan out a circuit routine and get stuck into it 2-3 times per week. Make sure you push yourself hard. The higher the intensity the better the results.
Consistency. Simple but so important. I find many mums who do GREAT workouts 2 days per week but then trot out all the excuses under the sun about how life got in the way and they took 5 days off training that week. THEN THEY complain that they have some rare genetic disorder and can’t lost body fat or get toned. BS!! Set up your minimum day of training, for many it’s just 15 minutes, and get it done 6 days per week. You’ll be better for it. Get more consistent and you’ll get results. I promise. Make it happen. You owe it to your family.
Look it’s only a short spiel, but that’s all it has to be. Think about those 3 topics, and if you need some help jump over to our Facebook page and ask us a question on there www.facebook.com/Thatfatlossblog
